Surges and Spikes
Initially when you
connect your RV to shore power, and
continuously while connected, the
EMS
automatically guards your appliances and
electronics against high and low voltage and
power surges and spikes. If, at any time,
the
EMS
detects a problem, it will automatically
disconnect the damaging electricity before
it enters your RV.
Once the wiring problem is corrected, or
voltage returns within normal range, the
EMS
will then automatically restore electricity
back to your RV. The system keeps
working whether you are present or not. Some
campgrounds will prohibit the use of similar
systems that claim to increase voltage, but
Progressive
EMS
systems are protection devices, do not draw
any voltage from others and are therefore
allowed.
These Progressive
products are portable
RV Surge Protectors
that also incorporate built-in polarity
testers. We refer to them as Smart Surge
Protectors
(SSP),
and they are available in both 50amp and
30amp models. A
SSP
will protect your RV from an instantaneous
catastrophic event such as lightning
strikes, failed power company equipment,
short circuits and tripped circuit breakers.
An
SSP
will protect your RV in the event of a Surge
only. It will not protect from bad
wiring, higher than normal voltage or lower
than normal voltage.
Higher than normal
voltage is not a Surge, but is voltage in
excess of 132VAC for an extended period of
time.
